UNECE R156
Also known as: UN R156, UNECE Regulation No. 156
UN Regulation requiring a certified Software Update Management System for type-approved vehicles.
UN Regulation No. 156 (Software Update Management Systems) governs how software updates are managed for type-approved vehicles — including update signing, rollback capability, software identification numbering (RXSWIN), and audit trails. It is the SUMS counterpart to R155's CSMS.
