Regulation X Software Identification Number — identifier for the software set covered by a UN regulation type approval.
RXSWIN is the unique identifier that ties a specific software configuration of a vehicle type to its regulation-X type approval. Updates that change software covered by the approval must be traceable to a new or updated RXSWIN under R156's SUMS rules.
Why it matters
RXSWIN is what keeps a type approval valid as software changes. Every update to regulated software must map to an RXSWIN under UNECE R156, so teams need traceability from the software configuration to the approval — exactly the link that breaks first in manual, document-driven processes.
