Fault Tree Analysis — top-down deductive analysis of how failures combine to a hazardous event.
FTA decomposes a top-level hazardous event into AND/OR combinations of basic failures. It is used for both safety (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity (where attack trees mirror its structure). Quantitative FTA propagates failure rates upward to a top-event probability.
