DoIP

Also known as: Diagnostics over IP, ISO 13400

Diagnostics over IP (ISO 13400) — UDS over Ethernet/IP transport.

DoIP carries UDS diagnostic messages over TCP/IP, allowing higher-bandwidth diagnostic and reprogramming flows than CAN-TP. It is the standard transport for OTA reprogramming and high-data diagnostic operations on Ethernet-equipped vehicles.

Why it matters

DoIP is the high-bandwidth pipe for OTA reprogramming and deep diagnostics on Ethernet vehicles — which also makes it a high-value attack surface. Pairing DoIP with secure diagnostics and authenticated reprogramming is a standard threat-scenario mitigation that assessors expect to see traced through the TARA.
